Recommended Toy Gift: Xport Robot Controller: GameBoy + Lego
Although the usefulness is limited to what you can program it to do, this is a great and very fun gadget, especially for an engineer or a tech student (and it would make a great gift!)
It includes all the machinery to set up a gameboy as a controller, and what's need to program it. You must have a gameboy, and preferably some LEGO so you can build stuff with it. This seems a bit more advanced than what you can do with a Mindstorms kit, and is expandable: you can buy some sensors or a bluetooth module.
